India and Vietnam signed a Joint Vision Statement on India-Vietnam Defence Partnership towards 2030.
This document will significantly enhance the scope and scale of existing defence cooperation.
$500 million Defence Line of Credit extended to Vietnam —
The two ministers also agreed on the early finalisation of the $500 million Defence Line of Credit extended to Vietnam.
The implementation of the projects shall add substantially to Vietnam’s Defence capabilities.
It will also push the government’s vision of make in India, make for the world.
Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Mutual Logistics Support —
India and Vietnam also inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Mutual Logistics Support.
It is the first such major agreement which Vietnam has signed with any country.
India, in turn, has such reciprocal logistics pact with several countries like the US, Australia, Japan, France, South Korea and Singapore.
This pact will allow their militaries to use each other’s bases for repair and replenishment of supplies.
India’s help towards setting up of Language and IT Lab —
Indian Defence Minister also announced that India will gift two simulators and a monetary grant.
It will be used towards setting up of Language and IT Lab at the Air Force Officers Training School for capacity building of the Vietnamese Armed Forces.
