India and Vietnam has signed a Joint Vision Statement on India-Vietnam Defence Partnership towards 2030.

  • Joint Vision Statement on India-Vietnam Defence Partnership towards 2030 —
      • India and Vietnam signed a Joint Vision Statement on India-Vietnam Defence Partnership towards 2030.
      • This document will significantly enhance the scope and scale of existing defence cooperation.
  • $500 million Defence Line of Credit extended to Vietnam —
      • The two ministers also agreed on the early finalisation of the $500 million Defence Line of Credit extended to Vietnam.
      • The implementation of the projects shall add substantially to Vietnam’s Defence capabilities.
      • It will also push the government’s vision of make in India, make for the world.
  • Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Mutual Logistics Support —
      • India and Vietnam also inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Mutual Logistics Support.
      • It is the first such major agreement which Vietnam has signed with any country.
      • India, in turn, has such reciprocal logistics pact with several countries like the US, Australia, Japan, France, South Korea and Singapore.
      • This pact will allow their militaries to use each other’s bases for repair and replenishment of supplies.
  • India’s help towards setting up of Language and IT Lab —
      • Indian Defence Minister also announced that India will gift two simulators and a monetary grant.
      • It will be used towards setting up of Language and IT Lab at the Air Force Officers Training School for capacity building of the Vietnamese Armed Forces.
